HOUSE RULES

THE COR CURRICULUM BEGINS WITH THE SKANDALON SKOLE



The skandalon skole is part of the method of our mission. It is meant to be a sort of "budget" existential therapy, and grew out of the idea that the sacrifice of Jesus was a scandal to his own people, which was probably harder for him to bear than being "folly to the Greeks". (However it may be, when the disciples of the Baptist came to see him he said, "Blessed be he who is not scandalized by me." )By way of background, though Athens had fallen off militarily it was still an academic hub in the time of Jesus and even now we can see the locals are proud of its provenance

The Skandalon Skole consists of three simple theses, all three of which are meant to allay alienation and amplify amore. In a word, to dispose our hearts, minds and bodies to admit the possibility of Eucharistic phenomenology.

1. The supernatural dimension is real, and hospitable to us.

2. Our culture, while being suffocated by bullshit, lacks a theory of "bullshit", which would enable us to better distinguish between lies, bullshit and true fantasy or supernatural realities.

3. Nature itself was made to be our home and as such, unaided, if approached without bias carries Paradise within it, as it is not stained by any moral culpability.
The Skandalon Skole is a small scale operation and is meant to be decentralized. It had Pasolini as a cornerstone but this is too controversial for the general public. So, switch over to Frankfurt's "BS theory". It is a series of three mini courses, to propose that the claims of Jesus be evaluated not as fairy stories nor as BS but simply as they are made, with no pre-existing prejudice. The program starts in the fall with Faerie, moves to BS and finally to the Gaia style experience of what is supposed to be the garden of Paradise but we somehow sludged it up, both in our spirits and in the earth.
